Little diamonds, big futures.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu builds confidence, discipline and respect in kids like no other martial art. Our Crows Nest kids program is structured by age and experience — so every child trains with peers at their level.

Ages 3 – 15 · progressive age groups

Why kids love it (and parents too)

There’s a reason Jiu-Jitsu has become the go-to martial art for children around the world. It teaches focus, self-control and problem-solving. It builds physical coordination. And — critically — it teaches kids how to stay calm and in control in situations where other kids might panic or lash out.
Our Kids program isn’t just “fun kids Jiu-Jitsu.” It’s a structured, progressive curriculum designed by Bruno Alves over 14 years of teaching children. Every class has a clear technique focus, age-appropriate drills, plenty of playful energy, and an absolute zero-tolerance anti-bullying ethos.

The age groups

3 – 5

Little Diamonds

Ground-level movement, coordination, listening skills and the fundamentals of respect on the mats. Fun first.

6 – 9

Kids

Real Jiu-Jitsu technique starts here — positions, escapes, simple submissions. Still fun, but with more structure.

10 – 12

Juniors

Progressive curriculum with increasing intensity. Kids start live rolling with close supervision and appropriate partners.

13 – 15

Teens

Adult-style training with adult-style accountability. Many teens are already competing at state and national levels.

What parents tell us

More confidence at school. Better focus in class. Calmer at home. Fewer fights (and the skills to walk away from the ones they can’t avoid). Friends on and off the mat. Exercise they actually look forward to.
The SJJA Crows Nest kids team — led by Simon Chandra (2017 World Champion) and our kids coaches — has produced Pan Pacific and Australian champions. But the goal isn’t medals. It’s kids who stand a little taller and handle pressure a little better.
